On the 8th of September, the ESN UK 16th National Platform commenced in the vibrant city of Liverpool, welcoming sections nationwide for a four day training event and opportunity to vote on important national issues. These plenaries and workshops focused on topics varying from the international projects such as SocialErasmus, ExchangeAbility and Mov’in Europe to teaching on graphic design for social media and ESN employability. All of which excellently delivered with confidence and clarity by students who gave up their own free time to aid in teaching other students.

This particular National Platform saw the election of the new ESN UK President Taher Ahmed, a new emplacement of Local Representatives to aid in the communication between the National Board and the Local Boards and a new Candidate section procedure to ensure strong, hardworking sections are elected with the help of the National Board.

Of course, along with work there must be pleasure. With thanks to the Organizing Committee of the National Platform in Liverpool the visitors did just that! Events such as the Big Fat Quiz of Liverpool held in Hatters Hostel, a “From Liverpool with Love” James Bond themed ball at the Leo Casino and a night at the ever popular Bierkeller establishment in Liverpool One where the ESNers enjoyed steins aplenty whilst listening to the live Oompah Band.

The four day event inspired the Local Boards in many ways, enhancing connections and potential collaborations between them to develop projects further down the line all in the aim of improving the time spent studying abroad for Erasmus and international students. Hopefully the ESN UK 16th National Platform in Liverpool will produce great results for the whole of ESN UK.
